Past Reunions

70th Anniversary
The original school was opened in September 1931 as Ecclesfield Grammar School, becoming Ecclesfield Comprehensive School in 1967, and later still simply Ecclesfield School. It has become customary to hold a Reunion every 10th anniversary in celebration of the opening.

The 70th anniversary in 2001 was made special by the conclusion of a major construction (and demolition!) programme. The new building (built on the cricket square!) was officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Sheffield, on Friday October 12th 2001. The building was open for public scrutiny during the previous week, and on the Open Day which was held on Sunday October 14th.

The social event was held on the evening of Saturday October 13th, with a live band playing in Lady Mabel Hall, and adjacent bar. A buffet was served in the dining room in the new building, and a display of old photographs was staged in the library.
